Mt. Diablo is located east of San Francisco on the other side of the Oakland hills. The drive up the mountain can take up to 30 minutes. It is a state park and so a small fee is necessary to get to the top. But once you are at the top the views are some of the best in the bay area. If you plan to drive up, get ready for an incredibly windy road filled with switch-backs and hair raising drops down steep cliffs. And make sure you have a full tank of gas. At the top of the mountain is a gallery and information office showing the history of the mountain and information about all the critters that live in the park.
