SHE'S FINALLY HERE!!!

The following pages are dedicated to Sarah Elizabeth Schild. She was born Friday March 12th, 2004 at Centennial Hospital in Nashville, TN. She came into the World at 11:03 PM at a weight of 8.0lbs.

We didn't expect Sarah for another few days. Her scheduled due date was March 17th. Friday afternoon Jennifer left her office, and I left mine to meet at Dr. Chatterjee's office. After a quick exam Dr. Chatterjee discovered Jennifer was 4 cm dilated. She told us to go to the hospital immediately!

We arrived at Centennial at about 5:00 PM. The staff hooked Jennifer up to the monitoring systems. Shortly after that we all noticed Sarah's heart rate was dipping below 120 with Jennifer's contractions. The doctor and staff were concerned about it, but were not prepared to do a c-section yet.

Then at about 10:45 PM one of Jennifer's contractions caused Sarah's heart rate to climb to 170 bps, then drop to about 40 bps. This set off the alarms. The staff moved in, unplugged Jennifer and took her to the OR for an immediate emergency c-section.

I was allowed into the OR after they had a few minutes to prep Jennifer for surgery. They had me sit by her head. She was awake throughout the procedure. I held her hands and did my best to keep her calm. But truth is, I was freaking out too. Neither one of us knew what was going to happen.

They were playing music in the OR. We heard Corey Hart's "Never Surrender" come on. Just as it was about mid way through the song, we heard Sarah's cry. What an incredible relief. The nurses quickly cleaned her up and put her in my arms. I held my daughter for the first time. I leaned over so Jen could see her.

The nurses let me carry Sarah up to the nursery. After a few minutes staring through the glass, and watching them go through a few tests with Sarah, I went back to Jennifer's room to wait for her.

We spent the next three days in the hospital allowing Jen to heal. We had a nice little suite with Sarah in the room with us for most of the time. The nursing staff were all great. They gave us tons of great advice.

We're finally at home now and trying to rest a little while keeping up with Sarah's feeding schedule. She's sleeping and eating a lot. We are incredibly blessed to have her in our life.

In these pages you will find photographs, information, and more.
